 - but Tony Mowbray wants Craig Beattie in the deal.

Strachan has been a long-term admirer of Welsh midfield star Koumas, but now he has also inquired about Senegalese striker Kamara only to find Albion are looking for a monster fee.

But one of the biggest swaps of the summer could be on as ex-Hibs boss Mowbray is a fan of Scotland striker Beattie and would like him as part of the move.

West Brom are resigned to losing Koumas - also fancied by Everton - and Kamara, who is a target for Middlesbrough and Fulham. However they want big prices.

Strachan will not meet their valuation, but Beattie could be sacrificed - and Celtic can slap a silly price tag on his head too in a bid to get their men.

Beattie's chances at Parkhead have been hit by the arrival of Chris Killen and he may fancy a crack at English Championship football to get his career going again.

Just a couple of years ago Beattie was being linked with top-flight English sides, but he has slipped into the shadows and may have to consider West Brom to put himself back in the limelight.

Celtic and West Brom face a lot of talking to make the move happen, but both Koumas and Kamara want out and are certainly willing to go to Glasgow if the terms are right.
