BAROS is hoping an FA Cup double will help him overcome a crisis of confidence and enable him to deliver goals in the second half of the campaign for Aston Villa.

The Czech international has seldom been in consistently top form since his pounds 6million arrival from Liverpool in the summer and he took time to fully recover from an Achilles problem.

But he showed encouraging signs against Port Vale, with his two-goal blast helping David O'Leary's side reach the last 16 for the first time in six seasons.

Baros, who has netted eight goals in all competitions this season, said: "It's been difficult for me.

"I feel my fitness is okay now but I really do need to get my confidence back now and play well again in the Premier League.

"It's true to say that my confidence is not the best now, but I have to work on that and the only way to get it back is to score more goals. It's as simple as that.

"It is never easy to change clubs and then I picked up some injuries which left me down. Like all strikers, I always feel there is more to come."
