BANGOR City's ambitions to climb towards the top three were damaged by a shock home defeat to Newtown, who snatched two second-half goals.

Nicholas Ward Nicholas Ward often known as Nick Ward (born April 1 1811 - died February 17 1850) was an English bare-knuckle fighter. He was born at St. George's, East London, England. He was the younger brother of the more notable English heavyweight champion Jem Ward.  curled in a corner from the right on 69 minutes and Shane Sutton killed off Nev Powell's side from close range four minutes later after a fumble by keeper Paul Smith.

Although City clawed a goal back through Chris Seargeant on 78 minutes, after a well worked move with Les Davies, it was too little too late.

Bangor had difficulty overcoming Newtown's game plan of leaving just one striker up field and deploying the rest behind the ball.

Seargeant put in a superb 20-yarder for City but the ball flew just wide and then the tide turned in Newtown's favour as they landed their winning goal.
