Football: BURTON INTO A FINE STRIDE; Scarborough ... 0 Burton Albion ... 1.

BURTON stunned Conference side Scarborough to march into the last 16 for the first time since they went all the way to Wembley in 1987.

A thrilling battle at the rain-soaked McCain Stadium The McCain Stadium is a disused football stadium in the seaside resort of Scarborough. Aaron Webster's corner glanced off the head of David Rennie and skipper Darren Stride's stooping header at the back post was deflected past Scarborough keeper Andrew Woods.

It was a richly deserved reward for Burton who were missing three key players, including Clough, through injury.

The misery for the home team was completed two minutes from time when French striker Sherif she·rif also sha·rif

Four minutes later it was 4-0 when Burgess scored.

Substitute Jim Rodwell bundled home the fifth goal from Jon Brady's cross and the rout finished when Roy Essandoh Roy Essandoh (born 17 February 1976 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is a former Northern Ireland national team reserve footballer currently playing for Bishop's Stortford in the Conference South. BILSTON'S great Trophy run was finally ended by a classy Canvey Island side who just about deserved their victory.

Although the Steelmen had the better of the first-half exchanges, keeper Ashley Harrison was always in the action and it was the Islanders who struck the killer blow after 32 minutes.

The all-important goal came following a free kick when Craig Davidson's cross evaded the Bilston defence to let in Steve Parmenter, who buried a low shot at the far post.
