Football: BUDGET ROW SPLITS DUNDALK CAMP.

AN argument over next season's budget was a key factor behind the resignations of Dundalk CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Sean Connolly and vice chairman Tom Baldwin Tom Baldwin may refer to:
  • Tom Baldwin (The 4400), the lead character of The 4400 television series
  • Tom Baldwin (NASCAR Driver) (1947-2004), NASCAR Modified driver
  • Tom Baldwin (General Hospital), a fictional character on soap opera General Hospital
 on Saturday.

The pair walked out on the struggling Division One club to leave them in crisis again after a season dominated by the delay in installing an artificial pitch in Oriel Park In February 2005 Dundalk F.C. announced a major programme for a complete revamp of Oriel Park. The pitch was converted to an all-weather surface (the first Irish club to do so) costing 1.5 million euro. .

And manager Jim Gannon Jim Gannon, (born September 7 1968), is an Irish football manager and former player. He was appointed manager of Stockport County on January 17 2006, having served as caretaker-manager since the departure of Chris Turner on December 27 2005.  will not be pleased that the two men who supported increasing the resources available to him next season have left the club.

The former Stockport and Shelbourne player had recently called for more cash to be spent on the team next season if a promotion challenge is to be sustained.

But chairman Tony O'Kane believes that such a move would be unjustified.

"I'd love to be giving the manager a big budget to go and help us progress but we've got be realistic and can only spend what we can afford," said O'Kane.

"Already, our budget is bigger than a lot of the other clubs in the First Division and I'm not prepared to move this club forward with a large debt."

It is understood that while Connolly had been on sick leave recently, a board meeting earlier this week resulted in a difference of opinion about next season's budget, with both Baldwin and Connolly failing to receive backup for their plans to increase expenditure in 2006.
