Football: BOSS ALVIN WARY OF CUP BACKLASH.

ALVIN McDONALD is aware of the danger of complacency com·pla·cen·cy

1. A feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy.

2. An instance of contented self-satisfaction.
as his Vauxhall side look ahead to next Saturday's FA Cup trip to Hucknall Town.

McDonald's men, who had won seven consecutive games before today, beat Hucknall 5-1 in a league game at Rivacre Road a month ago.

But the manager insists there is too much at stake for his players to be over-confident for the fourth qualifying round tie.

``Hucknall are a good side, and they caught us on a very special day when we beat them,'' said McDonald.

``They will certainly want to put the record straight, and my lads aren't naive naive - Untutored in the perversities of some particular program or system; one who still tries to do things in an intuitive way, rather than the right way (in really good designs these coincide, but most designs aren't "really good" in the appropriate sense).  enough to think that it will be easy.

``They know what is at stake, with a place in the first round proper for the winners, and they know that it is a massive game. ``We have got to make sure that complacency doesn't come into it.''

Meanwhile, McDonald has spoken of his frustration at his side's lack of matches over the next couple of midweeks.

The Wirral club's scheduled home game against leaders Accrington Stanley on Tuesday was postponed because Accrington were involved in an FA Cup replay.

Vauxhall and Accrington are both without games next midweek because they have byes in the UniBond Cup.

And McDonald said: ``It would have made sense for the postponed game to be rearranged for then. But Accrington have said no.

`` We are already behind in the number of league games played Games played (most often abbreviated as G or GP) is a statistic used in team sports to indicate the total number of games in which a player has participated (in any capacity); the statistic is generally applied irrespective of whatever portion of the game is contested. .
