Football: BIRD ON WIRE; Cheltenham 1 Bournemouth 0.

BOSS Keith Downing Keith Downing (born 23 July 1965 in Oldbury) is an English former professional footballer. He was nicknamed “Psycho” for his robust style playing in central midfield. He is currently caretaker manager of Cheltenham Town.  said sorry to the Cheltenham fans - even though his team made it two wins in a row.

Downing's men hauled themselves to within two points of safety thanks to a last-minute strike from David Bird - but Downing was still embarrassed.

He said: "I apologise v. 1. same as apologize.

Verb 1. apologise - defend, explain, clear away, or make excuses for by reasoning; "rationalize the child's seemingly crazy behavior"; "he rationalized his lack of success"
to the supporters. We find ourselves in this position and we have to dig ourselves out of it. There are signs we can do that.

"Long-term target is to get to 54 points, so ten wins from 22 games will be enough to stay up."
