West Ham is a district in the London Borough of Newham, in east London, England, located 6.1 miles (9.8 km) east of Charing Cross. From 1889 to 1965 it formed part of the County Borough of West Ham.
 boss Alan Pardew Alan Scott Pardew (born, 18 July 1961 in Wimbledon, London) is an English football manager and beforehand a player. As a player, he was a steady, hardworking midfielder, most notably playing for Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic.  reckons Rio Ferdinand's nightmare has been a blessing in disguise for his kid brother.

Hammers centre-half Ferdinand was outstanding at Upton Park as the Hammers ground out a precious three points to keep them safely in mid-table.

Pardew said: "Because his brother is taking such criticism at the moment he's very nervous of the media and quite rightly so.

"But his performances have been terrific and if his brother had been here today he'd have been proud of him."

It was Teddy Sheringham, however, who proved West Ham's match-winner with a brilliantly taken 56th-minute strike to show his fellow strikers the way to goal.
