MIKE Marsh brought much needed experience back for the visit of another of the title favourites and only the woodwork and the brilliance of Celtic keeper Craig Dootson prevented the Linnets gaining the three points.

Loan signing Darren Connell hammered a terrific shot against the bar on 13 minutes and moments later only a point-blank save by Dootson from a Gary Martindale header denied Burscough.

Burscough then took control with Martin Crowder shooting just wide after a Marvin Molyneux shot had been blocked, then Dootson made an incredible reflex save as a header from the outstanding Michael White looked goalbound.

VAUXHALL looked dead and buried at half-time in this UniBond Premier Division game, with the visitors deservedly ahead 2-0,but the Motormen produced a stunning second-half display to crush their opponents under an avalanche of goals.

Avenue took a deserved lead on 33 minutes through Walsh followed by a fine glancing header from Hayward.

The Motormen's fight back began eight minutes after the break, with Fearns heading home and Cumiskey equalised. Vauxhall edged in front on 73 minutes through Cumiskey and a fourth arrived 10 minutes from time from Nesbitt. Fearns struck twice more to complete his hat-trick.

Tonight, theMotormen are away to Droylsden.
