Byline: By JAMES NURSEY

RYAN GIGGS Ryan Joseph Giggs OBE[2] (born Ryan Joseph Wilson on 29 November 1973 in Cardiff) is a Welsh footballer, currently playing for Manchester United in the English Premiership, and formerly for the Welsh national team prior to his retirement from international  reckons giving the Wales captaincy to Craig Bellamy For the rugby league football coach and former player, see .
Craig Douglas Bellamy (born July 13 1979 in Canton, Cardiff) is a Welsh international footballer. He currently plays for West Ham United in the Premier League.
will calm down the fiery striker and bring out the best in him.

Liverpool ace Bellamy, 27, has been appointed skipper following Giggs' retirement from international football after Wales' 0-0 draw in the Euro 2008 qualifying game at home to the Czech Republic Czech Republic, Czech Česká Republika (2005 est. pop. 10,241,000), republic, 29,677 sq mi (78,864 sq km), central Europe. It is bordered by Slovakia on the east, Austria on the south, Germany on the west, and Poland on the north. .

The decision by boss John Toshack has not been greeted with universal approval as Bellamy has a history of trouble on and off the pitch.

But Giggs made a public show of backing his successor by placing the captain's armband arm·band

A band worn around the upper arm, often as identification or as a symbol of mourning or protest.

Noun 1. armband - worn around arm as identification or to indicate mourning
on Bellamy when the winger was subbed in the 89th minute.

And Giggs revealed: "As I put the armband on Craig I wished him all the best and said: 'enjoy yourself'.

"He's a proud Welshman and he'll be a very good captain. In the two games he was captain when I was injured, it improved his performance.

"Some players react to responsibility and Craig is like that. He'll enjoy the captaincy and his displays will get better. He's a leader on and off the pitch."

Wales defender Danny Gabbidon says Bellamy and Giggs are two contrasting personalities and expects Bellamy to hand out more tongue-lashings.

West Ham centre-back Gabbidon said: "Ryan is more quiet and leads with his performances, while Craig is very enthusiastic.

"Craig will do a good job as captain and we look forward to playing under him. I am sure that the captaincy will change Craig."
