THE Sky Blues have had some surprise news regarding Wayne Andrews' ankle injury which threatened to keep him out for up to three months.

The free transfer from Crystal Palace was initially told he had fractured his left ankle following a tackle in the Boa-vista game, but a more detailed scan has now revealed that, in actual fact, it is no more than a nasty sprain sprain, stretching or wrenching of the ligaments and tendons of a joint, often with rupture of the tissues but without dislocation. Sprains occur most commonly at the ankle, knee, or wrist joints, causing pain, swelling, and difficulty in moving the involved joint. .

"He is not 100 per cent but he has still got a couple of days and I am hopeful that he will be there or thereabouts," said the City boss whose only other available option is using Matt Heath alongside summer signing Ward.

"Matty Heath has never let me down and he is fit and raring to go if selected."

Meanwhile, City's hopes of securing Geoff Horsfield from Sheffield United were ended when he joined Leeds United on loan.
