Football: Anderson completes home set; HIGHLAND LEAGUE.

Byline: STEVEN RATTRAY

SCOTT ANDERSON Scott Anderson is the name of:
  • Scott Anderson (baseball) (1962- ), former MLB pitcher
  • Scott Anderson (Hollyoaks), a character in UK soap opera Hollyoaks
  • Scott Anderson (Journalist), Journalist and Television Presenter on Channel 31, Melbourne, Australia
is set to become one of only three players to have represented Scotland in all four home nations in the annual semi-professional tournament. Only Anderson and Fraserburgh duo Derek Milne and Mike Stephen remain from the squad that made the trip to England in 2002 to take part in the inaugural competition.

However, tellingly he is also one of only five to survive from the largely successful tournament held in North East of Scotland 12 months ago.

Anderson admitted that taking the step up to the international arena is not an easy one and he believes the new lads will face a very steep learning curve over the next four days.

He said: 'It is a superb tournament to be involved in and it is always a proud moment to pull on the Scotland jersey so there is no doubt the adrenalin will be pumping.

'With the majority of them being new to this standard the team will have to gel quickly and learn even quicker but when you look at the team closely there are a fair few of the so-called fresh faces who have been around the block a few times.

'Martin Gunn and Martin Johnston Martin Johnston (November 1947 - 21 June, 1990) was an Australian poet and novelist.

Martin Johnston was born in Sydney in November, 1947, son of the writers George Johnston and Charmian Clift. His early childhood was spent in London and Sydney.
should not be too worried about stepping onto this stage and hopefully we can do ourselves proud this week.

'The best finish we have had was to come second behind the English two years ago, when the tournament was held in Wales and it would be great to go one better even if we are probably ranked as the outsiders.

'Being the underdogs often suits Scottish sides so we will have to grit our teeth and get stuck in.

'From a personal point of view it will be pleasing to have completed the set, as in playing in all four nations.

'As I said earlier it really is a great honour to be picked for your country at any level and with my brother Stuart away playing for the Under-19s at the moment it is a big week for the whole family. Hopefully we are both coming home with a smile on our faces' Fifteen of the 18 players chosen to represent Scotland this week come from the Highland League The term Highland League can refer to the following:
  • The Highland Football League which operates in the North of Scotland.
  • The Highland Land League which fought for tenants rights.
with ten of them winning their first cap.

Squad: Ally Ridgers Ally Ridgers (born 30 June 1980, in Inverness) is a professional footballer playing for Scottish Premier League side Inverness CT.

He started his career with ICT in 1999 but failed to make a first-team breakthrough and, after a loan spell at Forres Mechanics, he joined
