Football: Airbus back at base to host leaders.

AIRBUS UK face a tough test against Welsh Premier high-fliers TNS when they make their first appearance of the season on home soil today.

Having shared Conwy United's ground for the early part of the campaign, the league newcomers are looking forward to their first outing at their Broughton base.

``It's been a logistical nightmare travelling 45 miles to play at Conwy so everyone's delighted to be back at our spiritual home on the Broughton airfield, '' said manager Rob Lythe.

``There has been a tremendous amount of interest from the local community and factory and we're expecting a big crowd for the game. ''

John Dowridge returns to bolster the midfield after breaking a bone in his foot in pre-season while Andy Thomas, Richard Smart, and James Dean are back in contention.

All missed last weekend's 4-1 success at Prestatyn in the first round of the Welsh Cup.

Meanwhile TNS, who are top by a point, will hope to bounce back from their midweek Loosemores Cup exit against Connah's Quay Nomads.

``It was disappointing to go out but I still felt we played some great football in patches, '' said manager Ken McKenna.

``We started at a good tempo and passed the ball well, but to be fair to Connah's Quay they never gave up. ''

McKenna is looking for a swift riposte but his midfield plans are again hampered with Scott Ruscoe set to miss out after picking up a knock to his ankle.

With John Leah, Barry Hogan and Martin Naylor already out, McKenna will hope Jamie Wood (toe) and Tommy Holmes (illness) are fit.
