Football: Adams: Maybe rest's a lucky break.

LEICESTER boss Micky Adams Michael Richard "Micky" Adams (born 8 November 1961 in Sheffield) is a professional football manager in England and former player. Playing career
Adams began his playing career at Gillingham and also had spells at Coventry City, Leeds United and Southampton.
has decided he probably is a fan of Premiership interruptions after all.

The Walkers Stadium supremo su·pre·mo
n. pl. su·pre·mos Chiefly British
One who is highest in authority or command, as of an organization.

[Spanish and Italian, supreme, supremo, from Latin
had been irritated by an enforced two-week interval last month when the top-flight programme was suspended to make way for a round of international fixtures.

Frustrated at the lack of action, Adams arranged a friendly against Irish outfit Waterford but the plan backfired when striker Les Ferdinand Leslie "Les" Ferdinand MBE (born August 12, 1966[1] in Paddington, London) is a former English footballer. He is best known for his time at Newcastle United and Q.P.R.  fell victim to knee cartilage trouble.

Predictably, there was no repeat of the exercise during the last fortnight's suspension of Premiership hostilities.

And in the run-up to Leicester's clash with Tottenham at the Walkers Stadium today, he said: 'I've been lucky in that the last three or four years, whether they've been with Brighton or Leicester, have been good years.

'I've been winning games of football and consequently been classed as a decent manager.

'But at the moment we're second-bottom in the table.

'I've had to get used to losing games of football and that's been somewhat difficult to adjust to after four years of winning games.

'So these last two weeks have been good for Micky Adams because I've sat down and tried to analyse everything about the job and how our season's been going to date.

'The international break's also done us good in terms of allowing people that extra time to recover from knocks. 'Whether it's been a good thing or not overall I'll decide when I see how we get on against Spurs.

'All I'll say now is that it's important we get back to winning ways.'

The Foxes, promoted from Division One by right at the end of last season and then immediately installed as candidates for a return to the Football League, will take on Spurs desperate to end a three-game losing streak.

Leicester had gone into the September break smarting from a dispiriting dis·pir·it

3-1 defeat at Villa Park Villa Park, village (1990 pop. 22,253), Du Page co., NE Ill.; inc. 1914. It is a residential suburb W of Chicago.  only to bounce back by thrashing Leeds 4-0 and Adams will be looking for a similar response following the 2-0 loss at Fulham last time out.

'We're not obsessed with trying to stop other teams but I live in the real world and I know if we take on the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in open games of football we're going to get beaten,' he said.

'When we've got the ball we'll certainly try to play but the problems have been coming when we haven't had the ball.'
