LEE McULLOCH'S move to Rangers was thrashed out this morning after the Scotland star's agent agreed a deal at Murray Park.

The Wigan striker will put pen to paper on a three-year contract when he returns from Scotland duty in Austria later this week.

It will complete a dream transfer for the former Motherwell player, 29, who has never hidden his desire to come back to Scottish football and pull on the colours of his boyhood heroes.

McCulloch's agent John Viola flew into Glasgow from his Dubai base to hold talks with Ibrox chief executive Martin Bain and complete the finer details of his agreement.

It's yet another indication of Gers boss Walter Smith's determination to recruit native talent into a squad for next season which he hopes will wrest the SPL trophy from Celtic's grasp.

With Alan Gow and Kirk Broadfoot already signed up along with Frenchman Jean-Claude Darcheville, the capture of McCulloch is another major boost.

McCulloch's versatility will beahuge benefit to Smith who used him in striking and midfield roles for Scotland.
