Kevin Bonner is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays inter-county football for Dublin GAA. . The Tyrone defender received a straight red from Pat McEnaney Pat McEnaney is a highly respected Irish Gaelic football referee, from Corduff in County Monaghan. He has officiated many high profile Gaelic Athletic Association matches, including four All-Ireland finals and several International Rules Series matches, including the first test of which rules him out of action for at least a month - though there are fears he may get a three month ban for his off-the-ball challenge. Although McMenamin admitted he should not have retaliated, he explained why he lashed out in frustration. "I probably felt myself that if he (McEnaney) was refereeing to the letter of the law he'd have blown before that because I was being pulled and hauled the whole game," said McMenamin. "I can't say I didn't deserve it, I probably did deserve it, and you always get punished for retaliation so I can't really complain. "I'm going to have to take the punishment but it's kind of hard whenever you're trying to make the supporting run and you have men pulling you back and elbowing you in the stomach." McMenamin now misses the league games against Fermanagh and Cork plus the McKenna Cup semi-final against Monaghan and potential final against Donegal. |
