Food court flu peril? Are food courts swine-flu-safe? It is quite concerning that the spread of swine flu swine flu n. A highly contagious form of human influenza caused by a filterable virus identical or related to a virus formerly isolated from infected swine. seems to grow with every passing day. From what I have read, sound hygiene hygiene, science of preserving and promoting the health of both the individual and the community. It has many aspects: personal hygiene (proper living habits, cleanliness of body and clothing, healthful diet, a balanced regimen of rest and exercise); domestic hygiene practices are a means of avoiding the flu. We in Bahrain and the Middle East in general frequent shopping malls as a way of life and as such eating at food courts is quite inevitable. So, as I stuffed myself with another serving of 'fast food' and cola, I was wondering how safe these places are with regard to hygiene. The food outlets by themselves are quite conscious on hygiene (let's hope and pray on this) but I can't but wonder how the serving trays are sanitised Adj. 1. sanitised - made sanitary sanitized . Most of us merrily leave leftovers on these trays while a smiling attendant clears the table. I doubt most haven't noticed what happens from now to the next time you are waiting for your order at the pick-up counter. More chances are that the same serving tray, with a quick wipe (1) To completely erase data from memory or the hard disk. See file wipe. (2) A digital video effect that places one image over another. Although there are a myriad varieties, the classic wipe is a scene transition where the next scene slides horizontally or from the attendant of course, has found its way to serve you yet again. However disgusting this may sound, I bet this is what happens. I'd be happy if someone proved me wrong. I wonder why these trays cannot be disposable like the rest of the platter One of the disks in a hard disk drive. Each platter provides a top and bottom recording surface. There may be only one or several platters in a drive with each platter having its own pair of read/write heads. See magnetic disk. . This is of particular concern to all us 'mall going food court junkies'. So will someone responsible for public hygiene or shopping mall management, confirm to all of us that food courts are in fact quite hygienic hy·gien·ic adj. 1. Of or relating to hygiene. 2. Tending to promote or preserve health. 3. Sanitary. in the wake of A(H1N1)? Till such time I suggest we get a 'take-out'.
