SPIRIT Spirit in trendy EC1 has been open for about a year now, but a recent relaunch has given the place some renewed energy. Cocktails are one of the restaurant's strongest points - and Melissa Schramm, who was the first female bartender at Joe's Cafe in Kensington, is on hand as chief mixologist to prepare whatever your poison happens to be. The Hoxton crowd should also appreciate the presence of ex-1 Blossom Street's Robert Bowman as chef. TRUC VERT If you're a fan of Villandry - and almost everybody is these days - you'll be interested to hear that the original owners, Jean-Charles and Rosalind Carrarini, have opened another deli-cum-restaurant in Mayfair. With Truc Vert, you can order your food straight off the shelves, or just use the menu (a better idea, I think). Wines come at retail price as a nice bonus.
