This latest volume reviews a particularly crucial area of food safety - protecting consumers from the migration of chemicals from packaging into food. This area of food safety has received much attention in recent years with both the European Community European Community: see European Union.

 and the USA introducing new regulations and controls to protect the consumer. These controls are a recent and very important development, with implications for anyone involved in the industry. This volume presents a timely and practical guide to the developing EC controls on chemical migration from packaging and the methods of testing that can be used in order to comply with them.

The chapters in this volume draw on a very wide range of experience and topics. Specific chapter titles are: Migration tests for food packaging; EC legislation on food contact materials Food contact materials are defined as all kind of materials that can be in contact with food. These can be things that are quite obvious like a glass, a can for soft drinks, but also machinery in a food factory or a coffee machine.  and articles; Migration testing food contact plastics for high temperature applications; Migration from boil boil or furuncle (fyr`ŭngkəl), tender, painful inflammatory nodule in the skin, which becomes pustular but with a hard center (see abscess).  in the bag laminates; To what extent is packaging used for storing food and drink in the home; and Modelling chemical migration from packaging into food.
