Food & beverage.

Food & Beverage: The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization and World Health Organization announced that the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) has adopted 44 new and amended food codes and standards, and established a set of risk-analysis principles to assist governments in making their own standards and codes. Among the new and revised standards and codes are a code to prevent ochratoxin A--a mycotoxin--contamination in wines, a revised standard for infant formulas and an amended hygienic code for eggs and egg products. The CAC is also investigating methods for preventing antimicrobial resistance in bacteria that can contaminate food, and is developing guidelines for the prevention of salmonella and campylobacter in chicken.
