The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  company is ordering six freighter aircraft worth hundreds of millions of pounds from Airbus.

Investment fund MatlinPatterson Global Advisers has signed a contract for six A330-200 freighters, the wings for which will be made at Broughton, near Chester.

Airbus said the deal, announced yesterday, was evidence of strong demand in the freighter sector of the aircraft market.

MatlinPatterson intends the aircraft to be used by certain of its airline companies.

The contract brings deals for the recently launched A330-200F to 72 firm orders from eight customers.

It is not yet clear whether the planes for MatlinPatterson will be assembled as·sem·ble

Meanwhile, Airbus parent EADS has teamed up with Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) is an aerospace and defense conglomerate that is the result of the 1994 purchase of Grumman by Northrop. The company is the third largest defense contractor for the U.S.  to bid for a contract worth tens of billions of pounds to build 179 air-to-air tanker-jets for the US Air Force.
