Businessman Terry Maughan is using his annual "hangar bash" in Longframlington to boost the appeal, which has already raised pounds 700,000 for cancer research and clinical trials in the North East.

Next Sunday, Mr Maughan will use his aircraft hangar in the village to host aerial aerial: see antenna, in electronics.  games with competing aircraft, live music and a charity auction to raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Sir Robert William Robson CBE (born 18 February 1933, in Sacriston, County Durham, England), commonly known as Bobby Robson (IPA: /ˈbɒbi ˈrɒbsən/  Foundation.

The event starts at 4pm and tickets for the day are pounds 12 for adults, including the option to camp overnight, and pounds 6 for children. Along with business partner Eddie McCowan, Terry owns The New Inn pub in Longframlington and The Farriers Arms in Shilbottle.

For the last three years they have organised the hangar bash in aid of charity.

Terry said: "Last year more than 200 people came along when the event was in aid of an Indian street children rescue charity. It was a great day and a lot of fun, and we are looking forward to making this year's event even bigger and better.

"We wanted to do something to benefit a local cause and, as I've lost several family members to cancer, this really confirmed our choice to back Sir Bobby.

"Cancer is something that affects us all and he is doing something practical for the people of the North East to help the experts beat it.

"We've already raised pounds 350 from a casino night

Sir Bobby said: "I'm grateful to Terry and Eddie for their efforts and hope the hangar bash goes well. It's a very imaginative way to raise money and I hope the weather will be kind on the day.
