Fly tippers are tried and fined; COURT: Council aim to purge city of illegal rubbish dumpers.

TWO more fly tippers have been prosecuted as Coventry City Council continues its purge To eliminate or delete.  on the crime.

Two separate fly tippers were convicted in court on Wednesday, and between them left court pounds 1,938 lighter.

David Christopher Ogilvie, aged 39, of Longfellow Road, Coventry, pleaded guilty to depositing waste from his window fitting business in garages near the junction of Attoxhall Road and The Drive, Covent r y.

He was fined pounds 1,000 and ordered to pay costs of pounds 458.

The other prosecution brought by the council re-sulted in Paul Stewart Paul Stewart is the name of many notable people:
  • Paul Stewart (Composer/musician/director/Solo Artist)
  • Paul Stewart (writer) - Writer of The Edge Chronicles
  • Paul Stewart (driver) - Motor racing driver/team director, son of World Champion Jackie.
 Price, aged 46, of Langdale Avenue, Coventry, being fined pounds 200, with pounds 250 costs, after he also pleaded guilty to flytipping.

 cabinet member, said: "I am very pleased with these results, as it shows that magistrates take fly tipping very seriously.

"Let this be a warning to other businesses and individuals if they are considering flouting the law." Angie Timms, spokesperson for the Environmental Crime Unit, added "We have a number of fly tipping prosecutions in the pipeline, and we will continue to be proactive against perpetrators. I hope this result will get the message out there to would-be tippers that illegal fly tipping does not pay."
