Fluor Daniel Awarded Contract for Union Carbide's Polyethylene Project in Canada.

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 1998--Fluor Daniel (NYSE:FLR) Tuesday announced that it has been awarded a contract by Union Carbide to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for its new polyethylene plant located in Prentiss, Alberta.

The project and contract values were not disclosed. Fluor Daniel's Chemicals & Specialties operating company is responsible for engineering and procurement of the Outside Battery Limits portion of the plant, as well as overall construction management of the new facility. Polyethylene is used to make sheet wrap and packaging materials, as well as molded plastic products.

The work is being executed in Fluor Daniel's Calgary office, and approximately 800 people will be employed at the project site during construction. Project completion is scheduled for May 2000.
