Fluke Networks Introduces Gigabit Distributed Vision Suite for Complete Visibility in Gigabit Ethernet Networks.

Business/High Tech Editors

EVERETT, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 2000

Comprehensive Line of Monitoring and Analysis Solutions

Integrates Support for 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet

Fluke Networks, a subsidiary of Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) and the leading provider of innovative Network SuperVision Solutions(TM) for insuring reliable data communications and Internet uptime, today announced its Gigabit Distributed Vision Suite (GDVS), an integrated hardware and software solution for the capture and analysis of packet and performance data.

"Now customers can gain visibility of their most critical high-speed links with the Gigabit Distributed Vision Suite's hardware/software combination of monitoring, analysis, and reporting capabilities," said Mark Mullins, marketing manager for the Enterprise Networks Group at Fluke Networks. "Since stand-alone software analysis products with a standard NIC and PC are unable to keep pace with Gigabit Ethernet loads, Fluke Networks integrates high performance hardware options with software analysis solutions for optimum performance."

Fluke Networks Gigabit Distributed Vision Suite integrates two Windows-based software packages, Protocol Inspector Version 3.0 and Network Inspector Version 4.1, and distributed hardware analyzers together to maximize the users' effectiveness in locating and correcting tough network problems at 10/100 Mbps or Gigabit speeds. A unique component of GDVS is the Network Inspector software module, which automatically performs network device discovery and trending of port level traffic on switches and routers without the expense of outfitting each port. Results can be integrated into reports that may be printed, published to web pages, or passed to Microsoft Visio 2000 for network diagramming.

The new hardware analyzers from Fluke Networks feature full duplex, full-line-rate, 10/100 Ethernet and new Gigabit versions in self-contained rack-mounted units. A supplied in-line tap allows non-intrusive monitoring on fiber or copper links, eliminating the need to break and re-enable network connections each time a network segment is analyzed.

Complete solutions for Gigabit Ethernet

In addition to the new line of GDVS rack-mountable units, Fluke Networks offers a portable Gigabit analyzer. The OptiView Integrated Network Analyzer leverages the investment of GDVS by collecting data from and providing information to the system. Whether carried as a portable device or placed semi-permanently on a network link, OptiView can view traffic throughout the network from a single location using its built-in RMON II agent.

Pricing and availability

Fluke Networks Gigabit Distributed Vision Suite is available now and can be purchased from Fluke Networks sales channel partners worldwide. The price for the Gigabit Distributed Vision Suite is $32,100 (U.S. list). The OptiView Integrated Network Analyzer with a field changeable Gigabit Ethernet Interface (GBIC) is priced at $22,995. All prices are U.S. list.
