Florida teacher receives Syngenta Award. (FYI News & Notes).
Syngenta Corp. honored Jodi Geiger with its first Advocate for
Agricultural Education Award. Geiger teaches agricultural science at
Pine Ridge High School in Deltona, Fla., and was recognized for her work
in creating an Agriscience Communication and Technology Academy at the
school. As part of the award, Syngenta has provided Geiger with a trip
to Basel, Switzerland. She will then work with the company throughout
the year to focus attention on the growing need for more students and
teachers in the field of agriculture. Syngenta has also provided the
National FFA Organization with funding to develop a program to recruit,
retain and reward agriculture teachers through workshops, training
materials and a public awareness effort.
