The push to adopt comprehensive electronic documentation between doctors' offices and hospital settings intensified after the RAND , and Billing Technology; Finds it Affordable, Secure, Helpful for Compliance

WICHITA, Kan. -- MedAppz, the leader in web-based electronic health record (EHR) applications, announced today that Florida A&M's graduate nurse practitioner program has chosen to standardize stanĀ·dardĀ·ize

on MedAppz iSuite technology in order to better manage scheduling, medical and billing records.

"We spent a good deal of time looking at other available options before finally choosing MedAppz iSuite," said Dr. Doris Ballard-Ferguson, associate dean for the graduate nursing program. "The key to our decision was finding an integrated, full-featured program at an affordable price--something that was also easy-to-learn and simple to train students on."

Florida A&M's nurse practitioner program provides primary care for women (from menarchy to menopause menopause (mĕn`əpôz) or climacteric (klīmăk`tərĭk, klī'măktĕr`ĭk) ) and older adults (geriatrics geriatrics (jĕrēă`trĭks), the branch of medicine concerned with conditions and diseases of the aged. Many disabilities in old age are caused by or related to the deterioration of the circulatory system (see arteriosclerosis), e.g. ). While most physicians focus on diagnosis and treatment, nurse practitioners operate independently of physicians and focus on health management, showing patients how to live day-to-day with such ailments as hypertension, arthritis, and diabetes. More than 20 Florida A&M nurse practitioner graduate students serve at clinics in medically underserved communities.

"A lot of these people are the working poor, uninsured, or even homeless," says Dr. Ballard-Ferguson. "That means that managing scheduling, records, and billing in the most efficient way possible is crucial, because it allows us to focus more of our energy and time on actually helping people." Ballard-Ferguson adds that MedAppz technology provides simple security and legal controls that effectively manage who has access to records, an important concern for legal compliance.

MedAppz in recent months has assumed a leadership role providing technology to clinics serving medically underserved communities. Besides the Florida A&M relationship, MedAppz is now working with a number of clinics in hurricane zones throughout the South. The company also has a partnership with the Interamerican College of Physicians and Surgeons College of Physicians and Surgeons: see Columbia Univ.  (ICPS See IXS. ), which has a significant presence in Hispanic communities.
