Florida's Volusia County Schools Selects Geac SmartStream.

Volusia County Schools purchases the entire suite of SmartStream

products for greater flexibility and reporting capabilities

Geac SmartStream today announced that Volusia County Schools in Florida, which includes 64 schools and 60,000 students, has purchased the full suite of SmartStream products including Financials, Human Resources, Procurement and Decision Support. After an extensive evaluation, a committee of users chose Geac SmartStream because of its flexibility to change business processes to accommodate the industry's best practices.

With the Year 2000 rapidly approaching, Volusia County Schools needed to either upgrade its existing mainframe applications or move to a client/server environment. As a long-standing Geac Enterprise Server M Series customer, school officials decided to migrate to Geac SmartStream's client/server platform. For several years now, the school system has relied on Microsoft products as its standard operating environment. The fact that the full suite of SmartStream products is offered on Microsoft SQL Server and Windows NT was a definite advantage.
