Florida's State Parks Voted America's Best!


The Florida's Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Recreation and Parks received a National Gold Medal gold medal

Florida's state park system is comprised of more than one-half million acres with more than 150 parks. Fifteen million visitors utilize these park areas annually. To meet the challenge of provide outstanding recreational experiences the Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Recreation and Parks utilized its "Partnership Program" to help supplement its needs. More than 1,900 private and public partners helped provide support in the form of funds, volunteer hours, and educational service programs.

As a result of winning this award, Florida Governor Jeb Bush John Ellis "Jeb" Bush (born February 11, 1953) is an American politician, and was the 43rd Governor of Florida as well as the first Republican to be re-elected to that office. He is a prominent member of the Bush family: the younger brother of current President George W.  and the Florida Cabinet The Florida Cabinet is a Florida governmental body that engages in collective governance of the state. Created following Reconstruction, when there had been distrust of the military governors appointed by the federal government, it was designed to decentralize authority from the  adopted a resolution declaring November 1999 a month of celebration to honor Florida's state park system.
