Florida's Largest Independent University to Hold Second Annual Alumni Awards Banquet.


FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1998--On Friday, November 6, 1998, NSU will hold its Second Annual Alumni Awards Banquet, known as the Celebration of Excellence.

The event promises to be an evening filled with pride, camaraderie, and good will.

The Celebration of Excellence will highlight the outstanding achievements and contributions of NSU alumni and students. In addition, the Celebration of Excellence will include the investiture of Ray Ferrero, Jr. NSU's fifth president. The Investiture will serve as the official announcement of the new president to the local community. The evening will conclude with a presentation of the President's Community Award in memory of Leo Goodwin, Sr.

This year NSU is pleased to have as part of its Celebration of Excellence the investiture of president Ray Ferrero, Jr. Ferrero's relationship with NSU spans two decades. President Ferrero will be leading NSU into the new millennium, now that the university has been reaffirmed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) is a regional educational accreditation agency for over 13,000 public and private educational institutions ranging from preschool to college level in the southern United States. . In July, the university received word from the accreditation organization that "NSU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of College and Schools to award bachelor's, master's, educational specialist and doctoral degrees through 2007."

Building on the success of last year's alumni awards banquet, which attracted more than 700 people, the Celebration of Excellence should prove to be a celebration indeed.
