Florence (Testa) Tierney.LEOMINSTER Florence (Testa) Tierney, formerly of the Manor on the Hill and 1204 Main St., died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Keystone Nursing Center after an illness. She was born August 20, 1920, in Worcester, daughter of the late Nicholas and Carolina (Sardi) Testa. Mrs. Tierney graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance from 1939 to 1951. She was also the Executive Secretary for the Connecticut Education Association from 1969 until her retirement in 1986, and lived in Manchester, Connecticut Manchester is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 54,743.[2] History Manchester was settled by colonists around 1672 as a farming community. during that time. Mrs. Tierney was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church and the Guild of Our Lady of the Lake Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Leominster Homemakers. She was very proud of her involvement in the YWCA YWCA abbr. Young Women's Christian Association YWCA n abbr (= Young Women's Christian Association) → Asociación f de Jóvenes Cristianas YWCA of Worcester as a young woman, and enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Mrs. Tierney was an avid sports fan including the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Holy Cross basketball. Her husband, George A. Tierney, died in 1974, her daughter, Marjorie Tierney died in 2003, and her granddaughter, Ruth Sullivan. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Testa, and her sister, Marie Mangaudis. She leaves her daughter, Elaine Sullivan and her husband Edward of Leominster; three sons, Kevin Tierney and his wife Jenny of Conway, Arkansas Conway is the largest city and county seat of Faulkner CountyGR6, Arkansas.
