"This is a big example of Hindu-Muslim unity. It sends out a message that there is no power in the world that can divide us. All the human beings are same. My wish is that everyone's life becomes prosperous. That's why to make our life better, it is necessary to increase brotherhood, communal harmony and love. That's the message it gives," said Pratibha Dev Singh Patil, Indian President.

Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan is an organisation working for communal harmony since 1960s.

Organised for more than 40 years, 'Phool Walon ki Sair' is a symbol of solidarity between Hindus and Muslims.

During the unique festival, floral chadars (sheets) are offered at the mausoleum mausoleum (môsəlē`əm), a sepulchral structure or tomb, especially one of some size and architectural pretension, so called from the sepulcher of that name at Halicarnassus, Asia Minor, erected (c.352 B.C.  of Sufi Saint Khwaja Bakhtiar Kaki in Mehrauli and floral fans are offered by both Muslims and Hindus at the temple 'Yog Mayaji' in Mehrauli.

Considered as an emblem of communal harmony, the 'pankhas' of 'Phool Walon Ki Sair', are presented to the President and Vice-President besides other dignitaries.
