Flood wreak havoc in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district.


Sindhudurg (Maharashtra), Oct 3(ANI): Floods caused by incessant rains continued to wrecked havoc in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district Sindhudurg (सिंधुदूर्ग in Marathi) is an administrative district in the state of Maharashtra in India, which was carved out of the erstwhile Ratnagiri district.  on Saturday, as hundreds of people were left stranded and acres of agricultural lands were washed away.

 reports, the Pichdhaval River is in spate. Two buses have been stranded on the Mumbai-Goa highway that passes through the district.

There were no reports of any casualties so far, but the Mumbai-Goa highway has been closed down after reports of severe water logging and landslides from parts of the district.

 has triggered the rain since Friday night and as per the weather department, heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely to occur in Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri and several other districts of Maharashtra Maharashtra state is made up of 35 districts, which are grouped into six divisions. Population data are from the 2001 Census of India.

Relief and rescue operations have begun and efforts are being made to rescue people stranded in flooded areas. (ANI)
