Flood Protection Dam Al A'mirat Heights Opens Tomorrow.

Muscat, Apr 29(ONA)---- Regional Municipalities and Water Resources Ministry celebrates tomorrow (Monday ) the inauguration of Flood Protection Dam at Al A'mirat Heights, built in compliance with Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. The opening ceremony will be patronized over by Sayyid say·yid

 Saud bin Hilal al-Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat. The construction of the dam started after the adverse weather conditions (Juno) the Sultanate went through in June 2007 to protect Al A'mirat and Al Qurum Commercial area from floods similar to the adverse weather conditions. The dam's storage capacity is 22 Million cubic meters. This RO 29,299,844 dam is part of a protection network that comprises of 7 dams on Wadi Udddi and its tributaries that will be built in the future in different locations. This type of dams in the Sultanate aims at providing protection to people, their properties and life in general against floods. The opening ceremony will include the Ministry's speech, recitation of poems and an operetta operetta (ŏpərĕt`ə), type of light opera with a frivolous, sentimental story, often employing parody and satire and containing both spoken dialogue and much light, pleasant music. , in addition to activities from Omani traditional songs and dances.  Muhana bin Saif al-Ma'awali, Wali of Al A'mirat said that dams were desperately needed in Al A'mirat as it has many wadis and rains' water frittered away. Now people are very happy to have the dam. Mohammed bin Said bin Barakat al-Hadi, Al A'mirat representative in Majlis Majlis (مجلس) is an Arabic term meaning "a place of sitting" used to describe various types of formal legislative assemblies in countries with linguistic or cultural connections to Islamic countries.  A'Shura said that such dams will protect the area against floods. Ahmad bin Saud al-Mashari, Al A'mirat representative in Majlis A'Shura said the dam is important to recharge wells and Aflaj and feed farms in the area and its expected that it will economically activate the Wilaya. -----Ends/MN/FS
