As the nation gets back to business, companies are increasingly concerned about the safety and security needs of employees who travel.

Arranging private shuttle flights, where passengers know everyone onboard Refers to a chip or other hardware component that is directly attached to the printed circuit board (motherboard). Contrast with offboard. See inboard. , is one way for employers to demonstrate sensitivity to employees' concerns, said FlightTime Chairman Jane McBride.

"Executives at companies around the country have called us in recent weeks to discuss how charter flights can make employees feel more comfortable about flying," McBride said. "They've they've

With FlightTime's Corporate Shuttle program, companies can arrange domestic and international flights between city pairs several times a week. Last year, FlightTime provided a shuttle service for Procter

Employers are more concerned about the safety of their traveling employees than they have ever been, said McBride, recapping the views of executives that have called FlightTime. For example, several multinational corporations

The benefits of such a shuttle are an increased sense of security on the aircraft because everyone knows each other. Travel time is also reduced because check-in is less cumbersome cum·ber·some

. In addition, travelers can enjoy the traditional benefits of flying privately: a comfortable, roomy environment and increased productivity while en route to the destination. "Our clients have found that arranging private flights is one way to help boost employee morale as the nation gets back to work," McBride said.

With many airlines reducing frequency or eliminating certain routes altogether, customized private shuttles are, in some cases, a necessity rather than a luxury. Companies are also finding it easier to justify private shuttles because fewer employees are traveling and overall travel expenses are down. "Companies are apt to pay a little bit more for private shuttles to ensure the well-being of their employees who do have to travel," McBride said.

As a result of the decrease in commercial traffic, several regional and national airlines have expressed an interest in allocating aircraft to FlightTime's Corporate Shuttle program. Doing so enables the airlines to use excess capacity and generate revenue, McBride said.

FlightTime also plans to use two DC-9 deluxe-configured aircraft for shuttle flights. FlightTime is leasing the two 56-seater planes from Southeast Airlines For the Delta Connection carrier, see .
