Flight simulator displays selected for F-35. (Tech Talk).


The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter training simulators will have advanced displays, designed to be compatible with a sophisticated look-and-shoot helmet system.

The F-35 manufacturer, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, selected the SEOS SEOS School of Earth and Ocean Sciences (University of Victoria, BC, Canada)

 Panorama system, with a 220-degree horizontal by 65-degree vertical aligned field of view, for use in its F-35 JSF (JavaServerFaces) A standard framework of components for building rich user interfaces for Java applications. JavaServer Faces run on the server, but are displayed on the client.

 engineering facility at Fort Worth, Texas Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas, 18th-largest city in the United States[1], and voted one of "America’s Most Livable Communities. .

The key features sought in the display were compatibility with the Helmet Mounted Cueing System, ability to simulate short take off and vertical landing (STOVL STOVL short takeoff and vertical landing aircraft (US DoD) ), tight mechanical coupling of the display system to the JSF cockpit, fast delivery and conformance to facility constraints, said a SEOS spokesman.

The Panorama display system will include five SEOS 918 projection systems, SEOS DigiBlend edge blending system, Odyssey remote control handset and an additional sixth projection channel for heads-up display symbology sym·bol·o·gy
