Flextronics Signs Deal with W.L. Gore and PTIC.

, CA), a business unit of Flextronics (Singapore) that provides manufacturing services for the optical component and networking industries, has signed a strategic agreement with W.L. Gore & Associates (Newark. DE).

Flextronics will manufacture the nLIGHTEN(tm) family of multi-channel optical transmitter A device that generates signals. Contrast with receiver.  and receiver modules. The first generation offers 15 Gbps aggregate bandwidth (1.25 Gbps/channel), using less than 20 mm of board width. Gore's second generation of nLIGHTEN(tm) modules, at 2.5 Gbps/channel, will move to volume production by the end of this year.

Parent company, Flextronics (Singapore), has also announced an agreement with China PTIC Information Industry Corporation (Beijing, China), a state- owned communications company Communications Company is a communications unit of the United States Marine Corps. They are part of Combat Logistics Regiment 37 , 3rd Marine Logistics Group (3MLG) and III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF). The unit is based out of the Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. . PTIC is engaged in the research and development of advanced communication production and sales and engineering services, with a focus on the manufacturing and sales services of hand-held mobile phones and base stations. The agreement outlines a cooperative sales, manufacturing and research and development plan for the Chinese communication market.
