Flexibility and Choice Spark Changes to PIM and MMM Program.

More than 15,000 physicians have chosen ACPE's flagship course, the Physician in Management (PIM (1) (Protocol Independent Multicast) A multicast routing protocol endorsed by the IETF. Used in conjunction with an existing unicast routing protocol, it comes in two flavors: Dense Mode (PIM-DM) is used when recipients in the target group are in a concentrated ) Seminar, as the primary source for the leadership skills that medical schools don't teach.

Now, as a new year approaches, the perennial perennial, any plant that under natural conditions lives for several to many growing seasons, as contrasted to an annual or a biennial. Botanically, the term perennial  favorite is undergoing an exciting change.

"Because our members told us it was increasingly difficult to get away for two full weeks to attend both PIM seminars, we designed a better approach, condensing con·dense

Beginning in 2002, ACPE will offer the Physician in Management Seminar in four full-day and two half-day modules. Physicians can take the course as a whole or choose individual modules in any order and at any of the scheduled locations nationwide.

Full-day modules offer 7 CME CME

is $270 for ACPE members, $280 for non-members. The half-day modules offer 3.5 CMEs, with tuition of $135 for members and $140 non-members for each segment.

Plans call for the individual modules to be available in InterAct CD/Web distance education format by late next year.

The College is carrying the choice concepts into its graduate program for the Master of Medical Management degree, too.

Formerly a core course, the PIM is now an elective elective

non-urgent; at an elected time, e.g. of surgery.

elective adjective Referring to that which is planned or undertaken by choice and without urgency, as in elective surgery, see there noun Graduate education noun
, with credit accepted individually for each module. The PIM is strongly recommended for physicians who haven't taken introductory management courses previously, and the new format opens the graduate program to physicians who couldn't schedule attendance at the old, two-week PIM programs.

Program flexibility has increased, too.

Core course requirements previously required travel to 14 days of live classes for the graduate program. The new changes reduce face-to-face classroom time to as few as six days. A big time-saver for busy physicians.

ACPE members can get more information on the new flexibility enhancements in the PIM and graduate program at the ACPE Web site at www.acpe.org. And, as always, physicians are encouraged to call ACPE at 800-562-8088 for personal assistance with any questions.
