Fletcher Thompson's Conn. project.


Weston Public Schools turned to Fletcher Thompson Standish Fletcher Thompson (born February 5, 1925) is an American lawyer and politician who served as a representative in Congress for the 5th Congressional District of Georgia. Early life
Thompson was born in College Park in Fulton County, Georgia.
 for the design of its new Weston Intermediate School in Weston, Conn.

Completed in September 2005, the 114,000 s/f new building is now equipped with space for 700 students.

Fletcher Thompson president James A. Beaudin spearheaded the project team, which included Joseph G. Costa and Jeffrey A. Sells.

Located within Weston's existing campus, the two-story building is designed in a compact loop circulation so that natural light and views are available in all of the spaces. Also, a light-filled central gallery serves as "Main Street" for the facility.

Exposed trusses highlight the structural character of the gym, cafeteria cafeteria: see restaurant.  and gallery, while brick facades, with stone and painted metal accents, are contemporary, yet compatible with local architectural precedent.

Fletcher Thompson also managed the structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and interior design components.
