Valu-Fil resin filler for use with unsaturated polyester spray-up applications is a high-purity, soft-white dihydrate form of calcium sulfate designed for low-cost fire retardancy and smoke suppression in filled, room-temperature, cure resin systems. Brominated flame retardants include decabromodiphenyl oxide, dibromoneopentyl glycol and tribromoneopentyl alcohol. The latter two products are reactive flame retardants used in urethanes and unsaturated polyesters. Hexabromocyclododecane for specialty styrenics adhesives, and coatings. Hostaflam AP 750 is particularly suitable for PP and PE, meeting UL94 V-0 flame retardant specifications. AP 751 fuctionalized version is for fiber reinforced PP compounds. Other new halogen-free grades are Hostaflam TP OP 550 reactive liquid phosphorous-based polyol for flexible and rigid polyether foams and Hostaflam OP 910, a mixture of cyclic phosphonic acid esters for polyester textiles.

Additive brominated flame retardants for thermoplastic and thermoset A polymer-based liquid or powder that becomes solid when heated, placed under pressure, treated with a chemical or via radiation. Supplies Firesheild and Thermoguard antimony oxide in various particle sizes, including ultrafine grades that preserve resins' physical properties and grades that have lower tinting strength, which can save on coloring costs. Thermoguard FR sodium antimonate has a basic pH and is used as a synergist in acid-sensitive polymers like PET, PBT, and PC. It has low opacity and permits formulating semi-transparent FR compounds.

Magnesium hydroxide fillers reportedly improve smoke suppression in PVC, EVA and PE applications. Magnum-White and MGH-93 milled to mean particle sizes of 2, 10 and 30 microns.

Magnum-White contains a minimum of 35% magnesium hydroxide and MGH-93 a minimum of 85%. Users are reporting significant reduction or elimination of antimony in their applications.

Nontoxic Kemgard flame retardants/ smoke suppresants have demonstrated significant cost performance advantages in low-smoke applications. Kemgard provides synergistic benefits in halogenated and non-halogenated systems.

Kemgard consists of three chemistries: zinc molybdate, calcium molybdate molybdate /mo·lyb·date/ (mah-lib´dat) any salt of molybdic acid.  and zinc phosphate/oxide complexes. Santicizer nonhalogenated phosphate ester plasticizers and resin modifiers for PVC, cellulose acetate, and engineering thermoplastics offer properties such as low smoke, low-temperature flexibility, fast fusion, low volatility, FDA acceptability, and improved flowability for glass-filled polymer systems.

Two stock polyethylene flame-retardant concentrates: A25656 for use in higher temperature blown or cast film applications using LDPE, LLDPE LLDPE Linear Low Density Polyethylene , and EVA; and A26913 for use in light color applications with maximum processing temperatures of 425 F. A27529 polystyrene flame-retardant concentrate for use in foamed polystyrene applications.


Offers S/G 84 Type 34 additive for flame and smoke suppression when used in BMC, SMC and spray-up processes using polyester, PVC, PP, PE and other resins. Product is halogen-free but compatible with halogenated systems. Works throught a combination synergistic mechanism, which includes dehydration. Firebrake ZB zine borate water-insoluble, free-flowing white powder begins to release water at 290 C, making it a good additive for many polymers. Also specialty zinc borates, Firebrake 500 and 415, developed for polymers with processing temperatures over 300 C.

Principal uses for zinc borate are in PVC, polyolefins, epoxy, rubber, elastomers, nylon and other engineering resins. Applications include wire and cable, sealants, coated fabrics, electrical connectors, adhesives, automotive interiors, coatings, mining belts and electrical component housings.

An acid anhydride with a chlorine content of 54.5%, it is used as a flame retardant and corrosion-resistant agent for unsaturated polyester and alkyd resins, and as a cross-linking agent in epoxy. Systems containing chlorendic anhydride can be formulated for a range of responses in the ASTM-E84 tunnel test, the UL-94 tests, and to meet military specs.
