Flag raised on Iwo Jima again. (Digest).

Built by Northrop Grumman Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) has recently become the US Navy and Marine Corps' newest large-deck amphibious assault ship. The 40 500-ton ship will crew about 1000 sailors, and was designed to lay off troubled areas worldwide and insert its 2000 member marine Expeditionary Unit ashore by helicopters and hover craft. The Iwo Jima is homeported in Norfolk, Virginia.
