Fla. man dies 12 hours after son's birth

A man celebrating the birth of his son was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting after showing off pictures of the newborn at a friend's house.

Glendon Bennett, 27, was shot Friday night while walking to his car and died later at a hospital. Another man who left the house at the same time was wounded, the sheriff's office said.

Bennett's son had been born just 12 hours earlier. Bennett's family was already grieving the loss of his 3-month-old sister, who died a week earlier. She had been sick since birth, relatives said.

Bennett had been looking forward to raising the boy and marrying the baby's mother, his longtime girlfriend, according to an uncle, Moland Pusey.

Sheriff's deputies were investigating the attack.
