Five years ago. (This Month in AGRI Marketing ...).* Monsanto Co., St. Louis, has reached separate agreements with DeKalb DeKalb (dēkălb), city (1990 pop. 34,925), DeKalb co., N Ill., in a farm area; inc. 1861. The city is a distribution center with manufactures that include plastics, electrical equipment, and agricultural silos. There also are agricultural research facilities. Genetics Corp., DeKalb, Ill., and Delta and Pine Land Co., Scott, Miss., to acquire the two seed companies. Under the agreement with DeKalb, Monsanto will offer $100 for each share of DeKalb stock that Monsanto does not already own. Total cost will be about $2.5 billion. * Swingster, Kansas City, Mo., and K-Products, Orange City, Iowa, have agreed to a merger in which K-Products will join Swingster as one of the companies owned by American Marketing Industries Inc., Kansas City, Mo. |
