Five New Members Elected to the 2006 PMI Board of Directors.


TORONTO -- Project Management Institute (PMI See Private Mortgage Insurance. (R)), the global advocacy association for the project management profession, today announced the names of five newly-elected Members of the PMI's Board of Directors to begin serving three-year terms on January 1, 2006. The five accomplished project management practitioners, selected earlier this week during PMI's Global Congress 2005 - North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , will join their colleagues on the PMI Board of Directors to map the strategic direction of the Institute for the next several years.

Iain Fraser is internationally recognized for his expertise, experience and in-sights on project-based management approaches. He is Managing Director of Project Plus Ltd, a New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland.  based consulting organization with a specific focus on the provision of total project management services across many industry sectors and delivered globally. During 2005, Fraser has served as Vice Chair of the PMI Board of Directors.

Philip Diab is a Senior Project Manager with IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  and manages a portfolio of projects that includes internal product development initiatives and external strategic customer engagements to provide leadership to diverse teams spanning multiple divisions and geographies. He has over ten years of experience in the healthcare, financial services, insurance, retail, and consulting industries using skills in strategy crafting, planning, and project management at various organizational levels.

Karen Tate is President of The Griffin Tate Group, Inc, a Cincinnati, Ohio based project management training and consulting firm. She trains and consults with corporate and government organizations throughout North America, Europe, South America, South Africa, Asia, Australia, China, and New Zealand. Prior to founding the Griffin Tate Group, she held positions with General Electric, Bechtel Corporation, and Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation and has worked with projects and project teams for more than 20 years.

New to the PMI Board, Martin VanDerSchouw, PMP, currently serves as President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. With nearly 20 years of experience as an executive and information technology professional, VanDerSchouw also serves as a member of the U.S, President's Business Advisory Council, a member Colorado's Commission on Information Management and a member of the University of Kansas' Chancellor's Club. He also served as an information technology executive with Wells Fargo & Company in San Francisco, CA.

Rounding out the new slate of Directors is Thomas Walenta who currently serves as a Senior Project Manager for IBM in Germany. Walenta supports a client in coordinating all of his projects and services of IBM in Germany and serves as single interface to European client management in tactical and strategic topics and is responsible for client satisfaction and long-term relationships. He has been with IBM for over 22 years and defines and implements Program and Portfolio Management scenarios to improve project governance for clients.
