The primary servicer rating is based on Wells' continued excellent capabilities in the servicing of multifamily and commercial mortgage loans in commercial mortgage-backed securities Commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) are a type of bond commonly issued in American security markets. As of June 1, 2002, Wells was named master servicer or primary servicing 3,479 loans in 57 CMBS transactions, totaling $23.5 billion. Wells was also named special servicer on 18 CMBS transactions, totaling $9.3 billion. As of the same date, Wells was actively specially servicing CMBS assets totaling $25.1 million.
