(the Fund) is a closed-end management investment company. The Fund's investment objective is to provide high current income by investing in global fixed-income securities. The Fund also seeks capital appreciation, but only when consistent with its primary objective. The Fund is registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, which permits closed-end funds to issue preferred shares provided they maintain 200% asset coverage. As of May 2007, the Fund's current leverage from the AMPS was approximately 24% of its total assets and it has no outstanding debt.
