Fishy prayers.

A plastic bag full of letters to God washed up on the shore in New Jersey last fall and will return to a church. Bill Lacovara, an insurance adjuster from Ventnor, New Jersey, found the bag full of 300 letters floating near a beach in Atlantic City where he was fishing, according to Reuters. He planned to auction them on eBay and give the proceeds to charity, but he said negative reaction from religious people convinced him to give them to a church. The letters were addressed to the Rev. Grady Cooper of Jersey City, New Jersey, who died in 2004, and according to media reports, they contained prayers for everything from forgiveness for an abortion to help with winning the lottery. The letters traveled 100 miles from their original home, where they were probably thrown out after Cooper's death. Lacovara is evaluating about a dozen clergymen who offered to take the letters, he said, to make sure they don't fall in the wrong hands.
