) - Fisheries Research Agency Develops Simple and Safe Fish Anesthetic

The Fisheries Research Agency (FRA Fra: see Angelico, Fra; Bartolommeo di Pagholo del Fattorino, Fra; Fra Filippo Lippi under Lippi. ) has developed a prototype of new fish anesthetic.

The new agent, which uses three food additives as active ingredients, namely, baking soda baking soda: see sodium bicarbonate. , succinic acid and glycerine glycerine

see glycerin.
, can exert about the same sufficient anesthetic effects as the one currently available in the market.

Further, the new anesthetic can be made at 1/10 the cost of producing the existing agent.

The FRA has filed application for a patent on the new fish anesthetic. Going forward, it will proceed with research with a view to commercializing a simple, safe and low-cost fish anesthetic.
