The new agent, which uses three food additives as active ingredients, namely, baking soda baking soda: see sodium bicarbonate. , succinic acid and glycerine glycerine see glycerin. , can exert about the same sufficient anesthetic effects as the one currently available in the market. Further, the new anesthetic can be made at 1/10 the cost of producing the existing agent. The FRA has filed application for a patent on the new fish anesthetic.
