Fischer Imaging Corporation (Nasdaq:FIMG) has introduced its MammoTest(R) Select(TM) Breast Biopsy System with the All-Angles Advantage(TM).

This product is the latest addition to Fischer Imaging's industry-leading technology in the minimally invasive diagnosis of breast disease.

Clear Visualization Enables Accurate Targeting

MammoTest Select's digital imaging technology provides clear visualization of lesions, enabling accurate targeting of even the smallest microcalcifications. Visualizing faint microcalcifications is crucial for stereotactic biopsy and early breast cancer diagnosis. MammoTest Select's MammoVision Elite Digital Detector uses a fiber optically coupled 1024 x 1024 CCD for a maximum resolution of 10 1p/mm offering the industry's best spatial and contrast resolution for easier visualization of breast anatomy. The system's "Target on Scout" capability uses angled needle entry for targeting and confirmation of needle tip location.

Angled Targeting Offers Best Possible Access

The system's All-Angles Advantage enables better access to all regions of the breast than other stereotactic biopsy systems. The unique angled needle entry allows visualization of the lesion to remain clear even during biopsy, and the angle of entry enables more of the breast to be accessed. This provides greater comfort for patients from a more accurate insertion.

The system offers the largest breast aperture of any prone biopsy system, 11 in / 28 cm, allowing for greater access to hard-to-reach lesions high in the axillary region. Angled needle access provides superior chest wall access. The system's specialized set of compression paddles were designed exclusively for reaching challenging lesions high in the axillary region during arm-through-aperture procedures. Additionally, the system's lateral arm attachment allows superior accessibility to biopsy for small breasts or superficial lesions.

Design Minimizes Invasiveness and Aids Patient Comfort

MammoTest Select was designed with patient comfort and diagnostic efficacy in mind. The table's contours reduce neck, shoulder and lower back stress, and the tabletop is oversized, to accommodate more patients. The large aperture is more comfortable for patients during arm-through-aperture procedures. The unique design allows patients to maintain eye contact with the physician or technologist, while the procedure is kept out of view.

Like other Fischer Imaging products, the MammoTest Select(TM) Breast Biopsy System enables full network connectivity through use of a modern software platform. The system is also compatible with all available stereotactically guided biopsy instruments. The system's design enables physicians and technologists to approach the patient from any side of the table, for better positioning and access, and easy-to-use controls allow for quick, smooth repositioning without having to move the patient. Rotating gantry and the exclusive lateral arm attachment provide full 360 degree patient access.
