 Katherine Jashinski of the Texas Army National Guard The Texas National Guard comprises both Army and Air National Guard components. The Constitution of the United States specifically charges the National Guard with dual federal and state missions.  became the first woman in the military to make a public declaration of her resistance to the Iraq War. She enlisted three years ago, and in 2004 she requested conscientious objector status.
